5. Reviewing the Schedule in sam

sam has two built in tools that can help you review your schedule. First, you can view a quick, visual chart of a provider's day with the Doctor's Free Time tool. Second, you can use the sam scheduling screens without setting a patient, provider, or time in order to view the entire schedule. Read the sections below to learn more about these two tools.

TipOther Scheduling Reports

The two tools below are part of the sam program. Partner has many other scheduling reports, including scan, chart, appts, and reports in the Scheduling Reports section of srs. If you need a different method of viewing your schedule than provided in sam, contact PCC support to learn more about your options.

5.1. Doctor's Free Time

While viewing any of the scheduling screens, you can jump to a text chart displaying available time for a single provider on a single day. Press F to see the Doctor's Free Time report.

Doctor's Free Time displays a single pound symbol (#) for every 2.5 minutes of available time. This allows you to quickly glance at a provider's day and make judgments about available openings.

Use the right and left arrow keys to cycle through the days of your selected provider. To return to the scheduling screen, press F12 or use the function keys at the bottom of the screen.

5.2. Use sam's Scheduling Screens as a Report (samview)

5.2.1. Introduction

Do you run sam, and select a patient, visit reason, and provider, just to get a look at your schedule? What if you want to view sam's great scheduling screens, but you don't want to schedule an appointment? The new samview program shows you the sam Day View or sam Detailed View without needing criteria. Run samview to use these two useful sam scheduling screens to help manage your schedule.

PCC can add samview to any Partner window or to one of the configurable function keys in sam. You can also run samview by typing it at a command prompt.

5.2.2. View the Schedule

The samview program has two screens. Press F8 to jump between the Day View and Detailed View screens.

  • Day View: Compare providers' schedules for any day, see the total minutes used and minutes available

  • Detailed View: See complete schedule information for a single day, including who scheduled each appointment and when it was scheduled

5.2.2.1. Day View

The Day View shows you a miniature version of a single provider's schedule, allows you to switch easily among your providers, and lets you jump forward to any future date.

Use the right and left arrow keys to move back and forth between the schedule on the left and the list of providers on the right. While selecting the list of providers, press the up and down arrow keys to switch between morning and afternoon or to switch providers. The Free and Used columns show the available and scheduled minutes for each provider.

5.2.2.2. Detailed View

The Detailed View shows a single provider's schedule on the left-hand side of the screen and shows detailed information about appointments on the right.

The screen displays information about each appointment, including the person who scheduled it, the date it was made, and the visit note. Use the Detailed View to review the specifics of any scheduled appointment or to look at a double-booked unit of time.

5.2.3. Conclusion

The samview program makes it quicker and easier to view sam's scheduling screens. To learn more about these screens and how to understand them, you should review the complete Scheduling in Partner manual, available in PCC's Client Lobby.
