Your insurance claims contain several provider identifiers. In addition to a provider's name, each claim includes National Provider Identifiers for both your practice and the provider, a Tax ID number, and possibly eligibility, pin and group numbers specific to the insurance company.
Tax ID and NPI numbers are stored in the Providers table in the Table Editor (ted). For normal claim configuration, those are the only settings needed. If you need to assign a different provider for billing purposes or need to manage old carrier-specific ID numbers, however, you may need special features of the Charge Posting (chuck) program or the Provider IDs (provids) configuration tool.
This manual will teach you how to adjust provider identifiers in Partner. In the first section, you will learn to use ted to set each provider's identifying information. In the second section, you will learn how to assign a billing or supervising provider to a visit. The final section will show you how the Provider IDs (provids) program can override provider identifiers before the claim is processed. provids also includes fields for managing old, carrier-specific legacy identifiers.
