What ERA Items Will Not Post Automatically?

Partner's Autopost program will post ERA items that match charges in Partner. If an item can not be posted, it will appear on the Manual Report. (From there, you can review them, post them in pip, or take other appropriate actions.)

What are the specific reasons that something on an ERA will not autopost?

Charges Do Not Match: Partner checks each charge described on an ERA and makes sure it matches an identical charge in Partner. In order to match, the charges must have the same:
- CPT code
- original charge amount
- copay amount (paid or unpaid)
Charge Does Not Pend Insurance: If the associated charge in Partner pends personal or does not pend an insurance company, it will not post.
Payment Does Not Equal the Allowed Amount: If you use Partner's contract fee schedule features, creating a fee schedule and linking it to an insurance company, then Partner will check the incoming payments against the allowed amount. Autopost will only post the payment if it is greater than or equal to the allowable. Note that this feature can be turned off, if you find it leads to more work than useful output.
No Per-Charge or Claim Level Payments or Adjustments: Partner will not autopost an ERA item if it does not describe how a payment or adjustment applies to a specific charge on a specific claim. Partner will not autopost insurance interest payments, for example.
Claim Status is Denied: All denials, or any ERA item with a claim status that is not "Processed Claim", will drop to the manual report.
Claim ID Not Available in the ERA: If Partner's claim ID is not sent back on the ERA, the item will drop to the manual report. This may happen because your paper claims are misconfigured or because the insurance carrier does not properly track Partner's identification information.
Negative Amount: If, due to an insurance takeback or other circumstance, the ERA is for a negative amount, Partner will not post the items.
Adjustments: Partner will autopost standard adjustments, such as capitation adjustments or adjustments for when your office's charge exceeded the carrier's contractual fee. Other, less common adjustments will drop to manual posting for your consideration.
Claim ID Not Available in Partner: If the claim ID found on the ERA does not match any claim ID found in Partner, the item will drop to manual posting.
Special Provider-Level Payments and Adjustments: If the ERA file contains special non-claim payments and adjustments (the "PLB" section of an ERA), the items will drop to manual posting.
